At what age do I give my kid follow on milk?
There is a difference between infant formula, toddler formula and follow on milk. So it is good to know the difference. Infant milk or infant formula is for babies up until the age of 6 months, after that you can give them follow on milk until they are about a year old. Within this period there are often different kinds of follow on milk: for instance for 6-8 months or 10-12 months old babies. The follow on milk is rich in iron, since the iron reserve your kid has built up during his or her time in the womb runs out around the time they are six months old. And at this moment in their lives they are not ready yet to drink regular milk, because their kidneys can’t handle the amount of proteins and salt it contains. When they reach the age of 1 it is not always necessary to continue feeding them formula, but if you do you can then switch to toddler formula or toddler milk. Always consult your doctor if you are in doubt about the best food and nutrition for your baby.
